You Gotta Get Goals
Alex Shalman of Practical Personal Development is teaming up with Aaron Potts of Today is That Day and his Simply Successful Secrets to find out what ‘makes us tick‘ - encourage us to call out our innermost dreams. Some dreams are within reach, some seem as though they are just beyond our reach, but with the energy this meme is creating, I can see darn near anything happening.
I’ve never really been one to think further out then the week ahead. I do well to accomplish short term goals that apply to everyday life. Having been tagged by Char, Aaron AND Wendy, I figured I’d better invest some time and thought into my goals so here they are in no certain order –
Goal 1. Family - Between my husband and I, we have four teenagers now. My primary goal is to usher our children into becoming intelligent, responsible and productive adults who find success in a life they are truly passionate about. Not a life they have to take just because it’s what they can afford. I want to be able to offer them the gift of choice.
Goal 2. Faith - To continue to grow in my faith and always remember that I have my faith and my God to carry me through the toughest times. A friend told me once that my answers are always as far from me as my knees are from the floor. I hope to grow more trusting in my faith so that I can let go of some of the things that disturb me most.

Goal 3. Community - When I first began disclosing my own secrets of making money online, I did it as a reaction to the massive loss of jobs we were experiencing in our area. Being in the Midwest, my friends, family and neighbors were some of the ones most heavily hit by the auto industry plant closings. I wanted to do something to give back to my community.
Since that time, I’ve seen more families being torn by dependency on two incomes and more children being raised by someone or some business that has little or no interest in the adults those children become. I hope to continue to provide instruction to parents who want to raise their own children at home the way I’ve been blessed to.
Goal 4. Finance - In the near future I hope to be making enough that my husband can quit his job. I want more than anything to be able to fund his personal dreams of growing and selling organic vegetables.
It always seems that when he has a dream of doing something, those closest to him squash those dreams. I’d love nothing more then to make a few calls and hire the people to set up everything he needs and draft the “I Quit” letter for him.
Goal 5. John Deere Green - Yup, that’s the farm girl in me! I do dream of that John Deere Green, but not for me! My dad has been a farmer for most of my life. In all that time he’s never had a brand new tractor. I’d love nothing more then to purchase a brand new John Deere and have it delivered to his farm.
Mom - A few years back my mother and stepfather had to make the painful decision to move 2,500 miles away into Canada just so they could have health care coverage. I would love to be able to provide a means for them to be able to come back to the states rather than miss out on the entire childhoods of their grandchildren. Once or twice a year just isn’t getting it!
Goal 6. I NEED sunshine and the ocean almost as much as I need air! I would love to be able to afford a home with white sandy beaches close by where I could escape the grey dreary Indiana winters and dose treat my seasonal depression when I need to.
It would be great to have a place to escape to each year at Christmas where the only “white” Christmas I’d be dreaming of would be the white sand scrunching between my toes.
I’m going to go out on a limb here and tag some bloggers who are very niche and some even outside the “professional blogger” arena but deserve to be recognized for their dreams just as much as the rest of us.
If you are tagged, go check out Alex’s post to get the complete rules!

What a beautiful post!!! :) And I totally share your goal #4 - my hubby has worked hard to let me pursue my dreams, I really want to do the same for him, too.
You say you’re in the midwest, where are you specifically? I’m in the Chicago area!

Gayla,
Those of us down here in the Sunshine State would love to have you and yours come to visit us anytime! In fact, one of my primary goals is to have a house right on the beach in St. Augustine, so look for an invitation once I make that happen! :)
Also, I feel like the odd {man} out here because my wife works a “corporate” job while I work at home, and one of my goals is to replace her income so that she can start working from home on her side businesses.
I don’t want a tractor, though. If I come up with one somehow, it’s all yours, Gayla! ;)

I agree we should determine our goals so we can reach them easier.
