Ultreo Ultrasound Toothbrush - A MomGadget Review & Giveaway

A while back I was singing the praises of my new Sonicare toothbrush and how clean my teeth were looking and feeling. We’d received one Sonicare kit and two brushes to try out. I took one while my husband took the other. After only a couple of brushings, even though the toothbrush really made his teeth feel clean, the husband refused to use the brush again. The reason, it was too aggressive and the vibration left his mouth feeling uncomfortably tingly for a while after each brushing.

ultreo-ultrasound-toothbrush Perhaps it’s that whole being a mom - having had twins and being the stronger sex thing *wink* I have going on because the brush didn’t really bother me that much.

Well apparently my husband’s refusal wasn’t the only one - because Ultreo has come up with an ultrasound toothbrush that’s less aggressive, less invasive and gentler for people like my husband that want the ultrasound clean without the discomfort.

My husband is thrilled with the difference between the two. Yes, I was nice enough to let him do the actual trial of this product - after all, he is the strong sensitive type and can give the review from a more sensitive prospective.

The Ultreo was developed in conjunction with the Applied Physics Laboratory and the Departments of Neurological Surgery and Pediatric Dentistry at the University of Washington by the former team that created the Sonicare electronic toothbrush.

The difference that Ultreo brings to the electric toothbrush market is in its ultrasound waveguides that emanate from the transducer into the fluids (toothpaste, water) in your mouth as you let the Ultreo brush your teeth. The key is the bubbling action created by the Ultreo. According to the company, the Ultreo works in a very similar fashion to ultrasonic jewelry cleaners. Most of you have seen how those operate and can likely related the two.

Having three teen boys in the house who aren’t the best at brushing - I have ordered extra heads for each of them AND me. This brush offers a 30 second timer that will help insure they are getting a proper full brushing with little effort. Right up their alley.

The Ultreo retails for around $169.00 and is only available in a limited number of locations at the moment, including: Ultreo.com - drugstore.com and Amazon.com - that may sound a bit pricey but coming from a mom who invested over $5,000 in her kids teeth before the age of 6, I can tell you, I wish this had been around back then. They say it’s a preemie thing.

For those of you who like to dig deep into the specs, I encourage you to visit Ultreo.com

And what’s better — thanks to the wonderful folks at Ultreo, we’ve got one to give away!!
