Today is Very Special Day
Just over a year ago, my kids and I got a baby Basset for my husband for Father’s Day. The pup blessed our lives in so many ways for six very long, but very short months.
Lilly was born with several birth defects that would eventually take her life. She genuinely was the most precious pup ever!

It’s been six months since we lost Lilly and we found our hearts are open to receive another Basset that needs us.
Today, thanks to the Guardian Angel Basset Rescue, we will be picking up Rose.
- Rose -

I’m not sure of her entire story - but as best anyone can piece together is that Rose originally came from a home in inner city. Apartment dwellers got her as a pup and realized that Bassets are not sterotypically lazy dogs that require little space. Rose wound up at an Animal Shelter where she was rescued from being euthenized.
Since then she’s been living in a foster home and now she’s being adopted into a home with two sister dogs.
If you or someone you know is looking for a pet, PLEASE consider searching for a rescue. You’d be amazed at the horror stories there are that poor defenseless creatures are enduring.
The one we have worked with to get Rose is Guardian Angel Basset Rescue which serves Indiana and Illinois. A simple search will pull up an amazing number of rescues. Sad that so many are needed but blessed that there are.

I see you have a thing for naming your dogs after flowers too! We had Daisy and then Xanda (short for a longer flower name). Anyway, she is so cute!

I can’t wait to see and hear more about Rose. She’s beautiful Gayla. From time to time we always wonder what Zeus is up to and if his new family is spoiling him more than we did.

We’re just getting ready to head out the door. I’ll be sharing lots of pics I’m sure.
Actually our dogs are named after out great grandmothers. Lilly and Rose were mine. Effie was Rusty’s and then there’s Miss Maggie :)
Lilly’s mother was a Daisy too :)
Angela, I can imagine you miss Zeus. I can’t imagine every having to give up any of mine.

She’s just soooo cute! I’ve always loved both bassets and beagles. We have two dogs ourselves, Abbie Rose is our yellow lab, and Kelby is our golden retreiver we rescued from our inlaws who decided he was way too much work as a puppy. He’s 5 now and still a lot of work, but we love him! Have fun with your new addition!

I just knew I was keeping company with a bunch of doggie lovers.
Rose is home now and she’s fitting in quite well. The other two dogs have taken her right in and she’s getting along beautifully.
And here we thought she’d be nervous and bashful LOL boy was I wrong!

Hey Gayla,
Thank you for sharing that… we have two doggies too - Sasha, a German Shepherd, and Cujo, a little Yorkie.
Thought you’d enjoy this - our little one, Cujo, recently decided to help out with one of our Relationship Advice videos. :-)
Check out the video here.
Have an awesome day!

Daisy is adorable! I have a soft spot for all dogs (especially rescue dogs)! We adopted our latest Border Collie, Emily from Buckeye Border Collie rescue a year ago, after she was found wandering around in Kentucky. She’s a busy dog, but I wouldn’t trade her for anything. She’s been a great fit to our family.

Adorable.
I have a bloodhound. She can drive me crazy, but still she’s the cutest dog on earth.
