Tis’ The Season For Giving

As part of a group writing project that’s being hosted by Kate at Babylune that focus on the spirit of giving and charities, I have chosen 1-800-Save-A-Pet. I absolutely love animals, dogs mostly and have three myself. Two of them were rescues. The other was bought from a breeder, but after seeing the living conditions of the dame and sire, I feel as though she were a rescue too.
Several years ago, I volunteered at an animal shelter - during my time there, I witnessed some horrific sites including the tragic loss of life for unwanted pets.
To the best of my knowledge, 1-800-Save-A-Pet is a no kill operation and in my heart, I believe those are the types of rescues that need the most support. Regardless of what happens, the animals come first - they will live, they will have human contact and in most cases, they will experience at least a little love.
My special pets:
Maggie (mama’s princess)

Effie

Rose

If I could afford a bigger home and more land, I’d have hundreds of dogs if I could.
If you know someone who is going to give their child a pet this year, PLEASE urge them to check the rescues. Most times you can find a loving pet that’s already housebroken, trained and ready to love anyone who will love them back - many are aged beyond the chewing and rowdy puppy stages too. It’s a real win-win situation.
Puppies are cute, but giving a puppy at Christmas is the singlemost reason for such an increase in animal shelters after the first of the year.

Your dogs are all too cute! We have two dogs, one from a rescue, one from a relative who didn’t want her any more. Great charity choice!

I think this is an amazing service and glad to see these animals taken care of. My girlfriends house has 9 animals living there so I don’t think we’re allowed to get anymore for now ;)
