The Only Thing Better Than Clean Sheet Day
It’s a well known fact that I absolutely love clean sheet day. Around here, it’s considered a recognizable holiday. The only thing I’ve found better than clean sheets is the perfect laundry soap to clean them in.
Laundry detergent is one product I have to be particularly careful with. My skin is ultra sensitive and the wrong type of detergent results in long, itchy nights of sleeping in clean sheets that feel like I’m wearing wool in late July.
Recently I was introduced to Purex Natural Elements. Purex Natural Elements is a biodegradable laundry detergent derived from 100% natural cleaning ingredients available in three unique, fresh scents made with natural fragrance extracts.
It is tough on dirt and stains, hypoallergenic and free of phosphates and dyes, and it
comes in a recyclable bottle so it’s gentle on the environment. And it’s not expensive like other green detergents.
Purex Natural Elements is also the first major laundry brand to be recognized by the US Environmental Protection Agency’s Designed for the Environment Program.
Purex Natural Elements is available in three naturally-derived fragrances:
- Linen & Lilies - light and fresh aroma of linen with a touch of delicate spring lilies
- Apple & Melon - summer apples and melon fragrances, including cantaloupe and honeydew
- Cherry Blossoms & Vanilla - sweet scent of floral cherry blossoms with hints of vanilla
Purex Natural Elements is available at mass retailers and supermarkets nationwide.
Purex Natural Elements is priced at the sole discretion of the retailer, with suggested retail prices of:
- $3.49 for a 50-oz. bottle
- $6.99 for a 100-oz. bottle
On Earth Day, a program was launched for Purex Natural Elements called Purex Saves Green with Jaime Pressly (from My Name is Earl) and announced the auction of celebrity designed t-shirts to benefit the Earth Day Network (EDN).
Jaime, along with Glenn Close, Chevy Chase, Andre Agassi, Bette Midler, Billy Baldwin, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Martha Stewart and Christie Brinkley, designed green slogan T-shirts that will be auctioned off through June 22nd at www.PurexSavesGreen.com. All of the proceeds from the auction will be donated to EDN, helping the organization to promote environmental education in schools.
MomGadget readers can also get involved by visiting www.PurexSavesGreen.com to create your own virtual T-shirt design/slogan and be entered into a national contest for a chance to win a cash prize, smart fortwo car and other eco-friendly prizes. The winning T-shirt will be for sale on the Web site (with all proceeds going to EDN).

Do you know if it’s available for front loaders?

Purex is the only washing liquid/powder I am allergic too. I love the smell and now that its a green product I am really wishing it didn’t give me a rash.

@ feefifoto - Purex will be coming out with a high-efficiency formula in August.
@ TripTheLady - My skin tends to be ultra sensitive to many detergents - but the Natural Element Purex is wonderful! No dyes or phosphates that are tough on delicate skin like mine :)
Olive Oil Soap

We sell a similar product, though not for high efficiency yet but we are working on it (I use it in my front loader and just use less of it now though). It is derived from olive oil… Okay let that sink in some. It actually cleans really well. We have a lot of all natural products but our most popular is the laundry detergent.
I actually have the same problem with skin sensitivity and thats why I started making soaps out of olive oil. That of course was before all natural products were popular ;-)
