The Most Unromantic Gift Ever
As part of the MomGadget Red Hot Bloggers Carnival - this weeks carnival that’s being hosted by Katelyn at Free Holiday Ideas focuses on the most unromantic gift ever!
With Valentine’s Day being just around the corner, I thought I might zoom in on that particular holiday. Guys, pay close attention here - will ya?
Several years ago, I dated a guy for three years (notice I’m going for the brownie points here in not pointing out something my husband got me?) We were in our second year of dating and in hindsight I realize that I was digging him much more than he was digging me - so the gift makes sense NOW!
I had my heart set on something romantic - I just KNEW that two years was long enough for this guy to tell me in some small way that he thought as much of me as I did him. Uhh WRONG! The guy gave me a beautifully wrapped package (the kind you just know has something special lurking inside). When I opened it, my heart sank! It was a T-Shirt! A racing t-shirt that wasn’t even my favorite driver.
The card that was attached was just as unromantic as the gift itself.
Stupid me, I should have read the writing on the wall and baled then, but I didn’t. I stayed for one more year - when the next Valentine’s brought with it a bouquet of yellow roses - the ones that do NOT say LOVE!
So I guess there are two lessons that can be had here -
1. Guys, if you don’t want to give the wrong impression, make sure it’s a gift that has nothing to do with love or beauty!
2. Gals, if you’re in your second year of dating and your gift doesn’t say love, JUMP!
What’s the most unromantic gift you’ve ever gotten? Join the carnival and tell!

[…] Gayla, from MomGadget shares her story of the racing T-shirt that won her most unromantic gift award. I think even the most romance challenged person would be shocked by this one. It’s almost as bad as giving a Ravens fan a Colts T-shirt. Guys, if you’re going to give an unromantic gift, at least make sure the woman will like it a little! […]
