Torchlight

Torchlight by Runic Games is a Fantasy RPG or Roll Playing Game set in the town of Torchlight.  Torchlight is a mining town who’s main economy is the mine which is infested by monsters.   It’s up to you to clear the mine for the townspeople.  You can choose to be a Destroyer, Vanquisher or Alchemist.

Torchlight has a slightly cartoonish look which covers up some of the violence and the graphics are pretty good for an RPG.  The game is easy to understand and the controls are very intuitive.

One original and interesting part of the game is your pet who helps you in your mission.  The pet can be a dog, cat or your own creation.  You can go fishing and if you choose to feed the fish to your pet he will change into another beast with different characteristics.  What he changes into will depend on the type of fish you caught.

Torchlight does have a minor glitch, if there are too many characters on the screen the game will slow down.  This may be an annoyance to some.

Torchlight doesn’t bring anything new to this genre it is very well designed and my husband hasn’t played anything else since he received it.

Smart Strip

smart-strip-sI was recently asked to review the Smart Strip Power Strip with Surge Protection by BITS Limited.  The one I received was 7 outlets with Fax/Modem/Phone protection which sells for $30.44 at CableOrganizer.com.  They also come in 10 outlet strips and both are also available without the Fax/Modem/Phone protection.

The first thing that impressed me was the transformer switch or outlet.  It’s set a little apart from the rest of the outlets to allow the extra room for a transformer like those that come with phones and modems.

The Smart Strip comes with 3 colored sections of outlets.  Blue is a control which will stop any power to that item when it’s turned off.  No more Idle Current going to that item which in turn increases your power usage.  The white outlets are for items that you want to have off when the controlled item is off.  The red outlets are always hot or always on.

The Smart Strip  cuts out an average of 113 Kilowatts monthly from your utility bills which will pay for itself in no time.  The Smart Strip makes great gifts for anybody on your holiday gift list.

Dymo Label Buddy

dymo-label-makerI recently received the Dymo Label Buddy to review.  This is a flashback to the earlier versions of label makers I remember when I was a kid.  The labels are plastic with a peel off back and the letters are raised and white.  You can only do UPPER CASE letters and some characters but it will get the job done.  And at $7.99 at www.CabelOrganizer.com it makes for a great stocking stuffer.  You can also get replacement label tapes in many colors from bold to pastel.

I’m going to have fun organizing the garage.  No more hunting through every drawer, cabinet and bin for what I want.
