Successful Blogging Open Mic – Getting Organized
By: Gayla Baer
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tonight I’m hanging out over on Successful Blog with Liz Strauss and a bunch of other bloggers.
There’s lots of helpful tips being shared, great ideas I’m making note of for myself and lots of new discoveries on new blogs to read regularly.
Here’s just a sampling of who stepped up to the mic tonight:
Joe – Work at Home on the Internet
Nneka – Balanced Life Center
Douglas – Service Untitled
Robert – Middle Zone Musings
Kirsten – ipopin
Cat – Designers who Blog
Rick – Shards of Consciousness
Sandy – Purple Wren
Hart – 1800Hart
Char – Essential Keystrokes
Francie – Francies
It’s amazing at just how one little change or addition to your daily routine can make a world of difference in your productivity.
A few of my own organizational habits –
I’ve got a spreadsheet for:
- every affiliate with links and contact information (makes for easy text linking when applicable)
- $$ earned by affiliate each month (wonderful for tax time)
- Printed spreadsheet that’s handwritten with websites – login’s and passwords (specific instruction for my husband to send them to my friend Angela should something happen to me – she’s the only one that would know what to do with them)
Most recently I’ve begun the Google experience. I’m personalizing my homepage with Google Reader and many other features to make blogging and finding interesting topics much easier.
Do you have some organizational habits that make your life easier? Might we be able to talk you into sharing a tip or two with us?

Yep – my handy, dandy weekly to-do worksheet is a must:

Glad to see you there!
I’ve dipped into the Google experience, but not all the way. I really need to get back to it though as it makes sense …
I’ve started doing this thing with the passwords. Darren Rowse had a post a few weeks ago about your blog will, and it made me realize that if something happened to me my whole online life would be out anyone else’s control. The one aspect of organization I’ve ignored is the organization to take care of things like that after I’m gone.
Hi Gayla,
It was nice hanging out you last night at Liz’s blog. I wish I could have stayed around longer. I was poking around here this morning and wow! You are one busy blogger! Clearly you are organized to fit all that in.
