Mama’s feeling a techy sorta sexy
One of the greatest parts of doing gadget reviews is always having the justification for one more toy - always, one more toy.
Well, Mama’s got a totally awesome (are cool people still saying that?) camcorder. This bad boy is so spectacular that it made Oprah’s Favorite Things list.
I’ll give you all the geek speak first (copied from the Samsung website of course) -
The SC-HMX10C high definition camcorder packs a 10x optical zoom with 20x digital zoom. A 1.5M pixel CCD with Electronic Image Stabilizer provides remarkably clear pictures, viewed in the 2.7” touchscreen LCD display. 8 GB of built-in flash memory can also be expanded via the SD/MMC high capacity slot.
flexible recording and viewing
twice the memory options
print directly from your camcorder
and USB 2.0 interface
the best darn zoom I’ve seen
I like to include all the geek speak information for those who find that stuff important - now I’ll give you the Mom Speak version…
When I opened the box, I couldn’t believe how SMALL this thing is. Weighing in at a whopping 6 ounces, there’s no risk of achy shoulders or wrists like in the olden days of recording.
The touch screen gives me goose bumps. I LOVE touchscreen anything! For some reason it makes technology seem so easy, friendly and more personal - not to mention I look a might important and even a bit techy sorta sexy while carrying my latest precious jewel.
I’ve not quite figured her out just yet, but believe me, as I do, I’ll be letting you all in on the adventure. I will be making stars out of my kids and dogs I’m sure.
Stay tuned for more Samsung Progressive HD Camcorder updates. If you’re interested in getting your own - Samsung provides a list of retailers, availability and prices.

I saw that on Oprah too. It has a beautiful and sleek design, but I kinda prefer using digital tapes. Sure, it’s a lot more handy not to have to carry around an extra tape with you, but it’s nice to have the option as well.
Still a really cool product, but it’s for a niche market segment.

Dude (I mean that with the utmost respect), that is nice. I just finally got a digital camcorder last year (non-HD)… and I am thinking I can come up with a justification (err, benefit) of dropping the money on a nice HD version like this. I just need to make my wife think that she is the one who came up with the idea.
