When my daughter asked what I wanted for Christmas, I mentioned a selection of various teas would be nice…loose and in bags, herbal, green and regular. So on Christmas morning, when our multigenerational family opened out gifts, there were many teas for me.

In addition, my son-in-law had found an interesting little tea steeper, the ingenuiTEA by Adagio Teas, Inc., the ingenious teapot, for steeping loose tea. I’ve had a delightful time using it with the Irish Breakfast Tea my daughter gave me to accompany it.
You can microwave the water right in the teapot or fill with hot water. Steep the tea leaves according to taste. Then place the teapot atop a cup. A valve opens at the bottom of the pot and the liquid drains into the cup. You also can wash the teapot in the dishwasher.
The only difficulty I’ve had with the teapot is getting all of the used tea leaves out. After getting most out by dumping and by hand, I have to swish with water to get the rest.
Also, make sure when you set the pot down, it’s on an even surface or the coaster provided. Otherwise the valve may be pressed and you have tea all over the table or countertop.
However, I’m enjoying this handy gadget and use it for tea bags as well as loose tea.
