How about a Fruitabu Easter Basket?

In all the years I’ve been a mom, two of the most fun and dreaded holidays has been Halloween and Easter.  The enormous amounts of candy they get and eat is scary.

While I like to share the classics like Peeps and Cadberry Eggs, I like to try and balance the amount of candy with healthier choices.

This year I was introduced to FruitaBu Organic Smooshed Fruit.  Sploooshers and Fruit Twirls.  FruitaBu Splooshers and Fruit Twirls are all natural fruit snacks that kids really enjoy.  From the squeeze tubes of one to the roll up style of the other.  Not that all food should be ‘entertaining’ but snacks and treats, the more entertaining, the better.

The Fruitabu snacks have a great flavor. You can choose from a variety of flavor options, apple, grape, raspberry, apricot or strawberry for each type. My family sampled both snacks and while 4 of the 5 of us really liked them, the one who did not said they were too tangy.  The kids took some to school to share with their friends and got similar results.  If you like sweet and tangy, you’ll love the sploooshers.  As for the Twirls, we sampled the grape and to be honest, they tasted like a fun alternative to raisins.  I’m not a fan of traditional raisins, but the twirls, I loved.  Perhaps it was a texture thing - I can’t be sure.

Now for the part that mom’s like most!

As I stated above, this is an organic fruit product. The ingredients are mainly organic concentrated fruit puree that make up the fruit portion of the product. You will find 10% of Vitaimin C, but not too many other vitamins or minerals. Each individual fruit flat, splooosher or twirl has about 13 grams of sugar, but eighty calories! The good news is that you get about 85 mg of potassium, or about 2% of the daily recommended allowance. Fruits and vegetables are used for the coloring of the snacks, adding to the all natural appeal!

While it may not be the greatest in overall nutritional value, it sure beats the heck out of candy bars, chocolate and jelly beans.

This Easter, when you’re toiling over baskets for your kids, consider balancing out the chocolate with the treats that leave you feeling guilt free.
