Have Your Child’s Artwork Bound in a Book

by Gayla McCord on April 9th, 2008

I have been struggling for years to put together a scrap book of art from my two boys’ elementary school years. They are now almost 14 and 16 and the drawings and art never made it out of the storage area! I went as far as buying the scrap books, but that’s where it ended.  Fortunately for me I was recently asked to do a review on a new company called Artimus Art in exchange for a one of their art collection books.

They do all the work for you! You collect the pieces of art and ship them off to Artimus Art in a special box that they send to you. The artwork is then scanned and uploaded to the Artimus Web Site where you can view them, rearrange their order, pick your cover and then ultimately order your book. You have three choices:

The Red Wagon: 24 page book
The Trolley: 50 page book
The Dump Truck: 85 page book

I ordered the Trolley book. Since I was one of the very first customers there were a few wrinkles that needed to be ironed out with the web site but that is to be expected, and in the end that was all sorted out and I got my beautiful book. The whole family was astonished at the quality of the art on the pages. The reproduction looked like the actual drawing or painting.

You can take a tour of their web site and see how the process works. The owner is also very accessible for any questions that you might have.

My boys were thrilled to see their works of art bound in a beautiful book.  The colors were vibrant and the detail was excellent.  The photo above shows the back of the book.

These photos show two pages that I selected to show off  the quality of the scans.

This is a great service, and if you are like me waiting for that rainy day that never comes, this might be a great option for you.

That’s a great idea! If our adoption ever goes through - I’ll have to do that. I know I can’t ever throw anything away - so that’s an organized and constructive way to still sort of keep kids artwork.

I know a couple of my customers who could definitely use this! I love scrapbooking but if you don’t have the time AND the inclination the stuff just sits in folders. A great alternative!

That’s a nice idea for keepsakes or mementoes for other members of the family. I can imagine that children might appreciate the scrapbooks when they’re older and showing their own children.

I love this idea! The precious artwork of our children can never be replaced - and I think it will be a treat for the grandchildren to see what their Mom and Dad created. It is efficient and puts the art in a format that is so much more accessible.
    Thanks for the referral!

I might not be a Mom (I’m a Dad ;) ) but I sure wish we had this when our 2 monsters were growing up. Maybe we wouldn’t have lost most of their pictures during our move … Still, a great gadget to preserve wonderful memories.

What a fantastic idea! I have been planning on doing a project like this with my daughter for a while now, she would love it. Our fridge is already covered in artwork, it would be nice to display it in a better way.
