Designs by Tara Burner Jewelry

I came across Designs By Tara Burner and I am so glad that I did.
Tara makes upcycled jewelry and magnets. She has hot new designs on all of her items.
Everything is made with high quality items and upcycled as much as possible. She reuses gem stones, recycled glass, recycled wire and anything else she can find to reuse including bottle caps.
I am absolutely hooked on the glass pendant necklaces. They are vibrant, unique and my teen absolutely loves wearing them.
She also does custom orders including photo portrait pendants. What a wonderful idea for every mom. These surely make wonderful gifts.
As a mom trying to teach her kids about the importance of recycling and taking care of our environment I love that I can teach them what can be done creatively to keep simple things from landfills.
There is also a discount if you buy more than one item.

Nikon Coolpix S630 Digital Camera

When my old digital camera starting turning itself off whenever it want
ed to,I decided it was time to get a new one. I had had the old one since 2003–it was a decent camera but it had its problems. The zoom feature has always been lacking, and I never could get the colors to come out looking like the real thing, especially yellows and purples.
As a food blogger, I wanted a camera capable of taking good, clear close-ups. And as a person who lives fulltime in an RV, I wanted to be able to take good shots of the scenery, both regular and zoom. I found those features in my new camera, the Nikon Coolpix S630. The S630 is 12 megapixles, with 7X optical zoom, ISO 6400, and a 2.7 inch LCD display. It has 44 mb of photo storage built in, enough for about 55 medium sized photos. Memory is expandable using an SD card.
Included with the camera is a rechargeable li-ion battery and the charger for it; a USB cable; and an audio video cable so you can play your movies on a TV directly from the camera. There are way more functions than I may ever use, but it was very easy to learn to use them.
One of the first things I did was go out into my world and try out different settings. I am especially pleased with the macro:
I had to lay down on the ground to get this shot, but you can clearly see the gills in this mushroom. Next, I walked down the road to the lake where my husband was fishing. The first photo was taken with no zoom. You can barely see him over there:
The next one was taken at full zoom, which produced a somewhat blurred picture, but it does demonstrate how powerful the zoom function can be:
I wanted to check was how true to color my pictures would be of things that are yellow. You’ll just have to take my word for it that this fabric is really this color:

My last test was the “Food” pre-set feature. Those noodles look pretty good:

When I bought this camera in November 2009, I paid $229 for it. I also bought a 4 GB SD card, and an extra battery. If you are someone who only occasionally takes pictures, you should be fine with just one battery. I use my camera every day, and take lots of pictures. My battery usually lasts more than a week before needing to be recharged. The battery costs $39, but for me it was worth that, as I was spending about $10 a week for AA batteries for my old camera.
In my opinion, the Nikon Coolpix S630 is a very good camera for the amateur photographer.
Vholdr ContourHD Camcorder

I recently had the opportunity to review the VholdR Contour HD Wearable Camcorder by Twenty20.
This Contour HD is the first and lightest HD Helmet Camera. It’s made for the active lifestyle but I wasn’t going skiing, snowboarding or biking so I used it as a handheld in the backyard with my puppies.
Since this is made to be mounted on a helmet, automobile or worn on goggles there’s no viewfinder so I just aimed in the general direction of my puppies and it worked great. You can shoot in HD or SD mode but I used HD to get the full benefits.
To get the video to your computer you can install the Vholdr desktop from the Micro SD Card included with the camcorder or download it from their website. Once you import the clip you can edit, save, email or share on the Contour HD Video Community.
The VholdR Contour HD Camcorder comes with a flat surface mount for helmets and automobiles, a goggle mount, Micro SD Card, USB adapter and battery.
The VholdR Contour HD retails for $249.99 but I did see it on Amazon for less.

I received three items for gamers from SteelSeries to review. QCK Mousepad for World of Warcraft, Kinzu Optical Mouse and Zboard gaming keyboard. My initial reaction for each was they were OK. Then they were given the ultimate test, Don.

OCK Mousepad for World of Warcraft. $14.99
Pros:
- Large surface area
- Grips well, doesn’t slide on the table or desktop
- Soft -to me it had a satin feel

Cons:
- Couldn’t find anything he didn’t like
Kinzu Optical Mouse $34.99
Pros:
- Solid, good construction
- Response time is good
- Small, fits well in your hand
- Skates well
- Braided cord is a nice feature
Cons:

- Sensitivity controls for mouse is adjustable only by installing their software
Zboard gaming keyboard $50.00 Additional keysets $24.99
Pros:
- Well constructed
- Responsive
- Keys are fairly tight
- Interchangeable keysets is a novel idea. Can have keysets which are game specific as well as a standard QWERTY keyset for everyday use
- Multimedia buttons which are unusual for a gaming keyboard
- 2 USB ports on the keyboard
Cons:
- Couldn’t find anything he didn’t like
All in all he was very impressed with this gaming gear and felt they were well worth the money.
Holiday Gift Guide: EyeClops Mini Projector Kid Review (VIDEO)

Have you seen the commercials for the EyeClops Mini Projector? From the moment my boys saw the commercial, they didn’t stop talking about this tech toy. We received one to review and let me tell you…they LOVE it! It has provided hours of fun for them and their friends.
Why do they think it’s so cool and what does the thing do? Here’s a video review from Aaron, who is 5, and Josiah, who is 10.
Aaron said he likes it because of the 60 inch screen. Josiah likes it because you can watch videos and play video games. Our entire family has had fun with the EyeClops Mini Projector. We have family coming in for the holidays and we can’t wait to hook this up and watch a movie.
I read some reviews when I was considering buying one of these for my 10 year old. The reviews were either great or not great. The ones that weren’t great complained about the picture and sound. First, you must remember this IS a toy. But, even though it’s a toy I personally thought the picture was fabulous. When we first hooked it up, it was a little blurry but we figured out how to focus it just right to where we had a great picture. The movies we watched were clearer than the video games.
As for the sound, I think it depends on the device. We plugged in a plug-in-play video game and it was a little hard to hear. Then we plugged in our DVD player to watch a movie and it was so loud we had to turn it down! it was the same for the Wii when we plugged it in…the sound was great.
Here are a few more details about the EyeClops Mini Projector:
- Pocket-sized and lightweight on the go media player - watch movies, play video games on the go
- Up to 60 inch screen
- From any multi-media device: DVD players, MP3 players, video game players, digital cameras and more!
- You can route this through your cable or satellite box and watch the big game outside while you BBQ
- Included battery pack runs on D cell and provides up to 5+ hours of life
- Get unlimited power with the included DC adapter
- Suggested retail price: $99
I can definitely see us enjoying the EyeClops Mini Projector for a long time. We have some plans this summer to watch movies outside. We can’t wait for that!
This really does make a great gift and you will have one thrilled little boy! I know mine are.

Holiday Gift Guide: EyeClops Night Vision Goggles Kid Review
December 21, 2009 by julie

If you are looking for a fun gadget for your son, nephew, grandson or friend…the EyeClops Night Vision Goggles are a fabulous choice! We received these for my boys (ages 5 and 10) to review and they both absolutely LOVE them. My nephew, who is 21, even came over and played with them (but don’t tell him I told you!).

Before I go any further and tell you about these myself, watch this video review with my boys telling you why they like them. (Turn up your speakers because they were a little shy and talking quietly.)
Aaron, my 5 year old, liked them because you can turn them from gray to green when you look through the goggles. Josiah, my 10 year old, like them because he could go in the bathroom, turn off all of the lights and it was completely dark in there, but with the night vision goggles you can see everything.
I, of course, had to test them out too and they are SO cool! I was completely amazed at how well you could actually see in the dark with these. Every boy that has come to my house since we received these has say something to the effect of “Are those the night vision goggles?? I have been wanting those!!”
Here’s a little bit more about the EyeClops Night Vision Goggles:
- They have received multiple toy nominations, including Boys Toy of the Year and Most Innovative Toy of the Year
- For 2009, they will deliver an improved, action styled hand held design and the power to see with both eyes
- You have visibility for up to 50 feet in complete darkness
- Suggested retail price is $59.99 (but you can get them for a better price than that. I have seen them for as low as $46.99)
Would I have spent my own money on these as a present for my kids? Without a doubt definitely, but I would have looked at the reviews first. They are well worth the money, will last a very long time and are perfect for a large age range. This toy gets 5 stars out of 5 from this mom!
The EyeClops Night Vision Goggles make for the perfect gift for that little (or big) boy in your life.

Sound ID 400 Universal Bluetooth Headset
December 18, 2009 by Stacey Graham
Filed under Family, Gadget Dad, Gadget Teen, MomGadget

I’m the one you keep hearing about. The one that refuses to conform yet needs to so she doesn’t make her kids look bad in front of the other techno-geeks. I don’t have a Blackberry, I don’t give a rip about my DVD settings and have no desire for an iPod or its copycats. I’ve turned into my mother.
I gave the Sound ID 400 Universal Bluetooth Headset a try for the holiday season and I may be coming around to the 21st century. I don’t look like a complete dork with it’s small black headset comfortably poking out of my ear and am learning to love my new little friend. Very easy to install on my cell phone, I’m happy with the volume settings and am assured by those I talk to on the other end that they can hear me quite well without me speaking in small words and at various tones. See what I go through for you people? At least I did it at the mall so I can embarrass my tweens like a good mother should. Other features include Automatic Volume Control to help reduce background noise - I wonder if that works on husbands?
The set comes with easy to use directions, an ear loop, two ear bud replacements and a charger. Not a bad set up. I think I’ll get this for my mother for Christmas, then we can both wander around gesturing wildly with our hands while we talk - something harder to do with the cell phone than you’d think.
Sansa® slotRadio

I recently received a SanDisk Sansa® slotRadio to review.
Reading the literature the slotRadio doesn’t appear very impressive. The website says It’s a small, stylish music player that comes bundled with a slotRadio™ Mix card preloaded with 1,000 full-length songs featuring artists from the Billboard® charts, and professionally arranged into a variety of genre-themed playlists. To be honest my first thought was “what’s the point” I mean you can get an MP3 player and have music you choose not just a genre of pre-mixed music.
When the slotRadio arrived I had to eat those words. It’s well made, sturdy and small. It uses a micro SD card which you can purchase pre-loaded or you can download your own music to a disk. In addition it’s an FM radio. That was a surprise to me. The bundle comes with a protective cover, earbuds, USB cord with AC adapter for charging. The unit also has a belt clip on the back. The sound quality from the slotRadio was above what I was expecting and I was very impressed with this unit and felt it was well worth the price.
As mentioned above the slotRadio comes with a pre-loaded disk with a mix of top 100 songs from the Billboard® charts. Additional disks in your genre of choice can be purchased.
This would make a great gift for those that are not computer saavy and not able to download music or those who don’t have a computer. It is also a good gift for those who can download music but want the option of a radio without having to carry 2 units with them.
slotRadio is available from SanDisk for $79.99 with pre-loaded cards for $39.99. The slotRadio can also be purchased from Radio Shack and Best Buy.
