Emailing Tips & Content to Fellow Bloggers

water-flowerOne of the most common techniques used for networking and gaining readers/traffic thats discussed by big name bloggers is to email tips or content to fellow bloggers and invite them to post what you’ve sent.

To be quite honest, I’m not most assertive person in the blogosphere and oftentimes I’ll talk myself right out of the possibilities when it comes to approaching other bloggers I don’t know very well.

I’m wondering how many of you email content or tips to fellow bloggers and how do you go about doing it?

Do you email a full post that links to content you hope they will help introduce in hopes of saving them time?

Do you just send the link and hope they click on it to investigate a bit further?

Do you email for link exchanges?

While I’ve been approached numerous times to partner in link exchanges, while I don’t like link exchanges, I tend to oblige so long as the link might be of interest to my readers.

However, given the periods of writers block that I tend to suffer, I would certainly welcome a paragraph or two that I could easily copy into a post and be done - so long as it doesn’t end up being duplicate content that’s been distributed among several bloggers.

So what policies and practices do you have?

  1. There’s a couple things you can do. One is to make friends on social media networks and then send them stuff through the service (StumbleUpon is my favorite for this.)

Plus, the old fashioned way of just emailing.

The fundamental principle is networking. The best way I’ve found to do that is to comment on blogs. Forums are another great way, but I don’t have a great affinity for them.

I get more No’s than I do yes’s. But every Yes is a link. So you take what you can get.

OOh - and content is key.

Thanks for the tips. I use StumbleUpon religiously. I think it’s one of the best programs going.

I’ve heard so many who are taking their posts and introducing them to people who might not otherwise find them. I was just wondering how they go about making that approach.

I’m right with you Gayla, we’re on the edge of our seats folks! I’ve definately got the idea to do it now… I never even thought about approaching others before.

There are a few pretty easy ways to get other bloggers and website owners attention, or to grab free links, and therefor search engine traffic, and cross linking visitors for your website.

One of the ways is just this, comment on blogs, lots and lots of blogs, don’t just go out and willy nilly leave your meaningless words scattered across the internet ofcourse, but when you find a post that leaves you with something to add, a differing opinion, or anything worth reading to say, say it.

Bloggers appreciate the comments, as you’ve shown in a previous post about the DoFollow movement.

Link first. Reciprocal links don’t have as much value as one links (meaning if u link to me, and I link back, Google assumes we made a deal, so they discount the link a bit.) However, most of us look at our stats at least once a day, we feel special when someone links to us, we visit, and we likely add a link back to the site that linked to us ;)
Submit Articles write articles that others can use as free content, if they include a link back to your website, at the very least, you get a link back from the article submission website.

Use Forum Signatures Be active in forums that are on topic for your blog or website, include a link back to your page from your siggy, if you contribute useful information, people will visit the site :)

We do this quite regularly. We offer articles to websites and blogs on the understanding that they provide two links back to our website or blog. It’s a win-win for both parties as the website/blog owner gets a nice well written article and we get a couple of links back to our website/blog. We always offer unique articles so in otherwords once the site has taken the article we do not use it again. We also tend to be picky with the websites we offer articles to. It’s a great way to get links to your site. And by the way if you would like an article just let us know as your website is a site we would be happy to provide with a couple of articles….and you can pick the topics.
