Welcome to MomGadget - a blog that has truly taken on a life of it’s own…
My name is Gayla McCord. I became a work at home mom in July, 2000 after having left a job as a buyer for a convenience store chain and a bartender.
Over the years, I’ve explored various opportunities some of which turned out to be slightly lucrative while others turned out to be scams. I’ve worked both for other people and I’ve worked for myself — and I have to say, being my own boss is amazingly rewarding.
During my days as a buyer, I became quite familiar with top notch marketing tactics of the mighty players like Coke, Pepsi, Frito Lay and Hershey. It’s those marketing tactics and purchasing skills that I feel give me a slight edge in the online arena. I’ve developed quite the nose for scams and schemes.
MomGadget was actually developed after attending a baby shower and seeing all the really cool gadgets that make a mom’s life so much easier these days. From the pacifier thermometer to the baby wipe warmers - it was just amazing. However, a very short time into the developmental stages, MomGadget took on a life of her own.
Living in the Midwest where so many of the middle class families relied on income from the auto industry jobs that were being shut down or shipped south of the border, I felt an urge to stand up for these families who were suddenly staring in the face of devastation and offer them a choice, an opportunity to earn an honest living without it taking one cent of all they had left. That’s when MomGadget became focused on both gadgets, gizmo’s AND working from home as a Professional Blogger.
I’m a woman of many hats and though I choose to wear many hats, most of those hats are more community contributions then profit. MomGadget is without a doubt my biggest labor of love. I make very little profit from this sector but it’s the one I enjoy the most.
I’ve been very blessed with a strong niche that allows me the ability to give back in a completely different arena right here on MomGadget.
