A Munchkin Duck Tub - A MomGadget Review

For the last two months we’ve been in and out of hotels, which made giving the baby a very hard time. He’s outgrown his newborn bathtub, which means we must either put him in the kitchen sink or be very careful with him in the bathtub. Course this means leaning over and one hand holding him while the other washes.
Needless to say we’ve been on the hunt for one of those baby seats you use in the bathtub. You know the ones that have the little suction cups that grab hold of the bottom of the tub so your child won’t slip away. It’s secured in place and snaps shut. We have had no luck finding any. My guess is they no longer make them, we walked through Target, Walmart, Sears and many other places but no sign.
Finally, hubby came home with the Munchkin Duck Bathtub. I must say this thing is a dream. No, it isn’t a seat but is definitely something that’ll help giving your baby a bath that much easier.
Basically you blow up the inflatable duck tub and run your water in it. Don’t worry you won’t be able to burn the baby since it has a HOT and COLD disc at the bottom of the tub to let ya know if the water is safe. You’ll love that it is soft and safe and your baby will love when you push on the duck’s nose it squawks. You can even let your baby relax against the rubber sides as you wash the soap out of his/her hair. There is a suction cup to let you air out the duck and it even deflates. One more thing, I’ve found that using the suction cup keeps the duck in place.
Hey, if ya can’t find a bathtub seat, at least you have the duck tub. I love it and he laughs every time I use it.

We own two baby seats, both of which we still use for our 15 months old (very active boy) and were purchased on-line because we could not find them in-store. I know that there are many warnings about using bath chairs, but that primarily refers to the general rule of DO NOT LEAVE YOUR CHILD UNATTENDED. We love that these chairs keep our little guy from standing and trying to climb around the slippery tub.

First, we bought the Safety 1st Tubside bathseat for home use. Available at Walmart.com for $26

Then we bought one that would be easier for travel.

I guess this bathtub is more indicated white at the beach.. At least that’s what I did for my kids. When we’re at home, we have baby seats for every age so they’ll be comfortable and safe during the baths, still, we use an inflatable little pool like this one when sunbathing.
